Tenkara Rod Replacement Parts

For me the Satoki was a miss but this is just my simple opinion and you may love it.. I was seeking a slightly longer / stronger rod with the hopes of not sacrificing the “tenkaraness” performance of my Sato or other rods using level lines. Maybe too high expectations.. To start the rod is very well made as all Tenkara USA are, It looks great out on the river especially when the sun hits that deep red blank. But I have the opinion it’s maybe a little over engineered for my likes? The foam handle was worth a try but the sensitivity and touch cork provides cannot be matched. I did not like how tip heavy this rod felt at its longest length and it made me drastically change my stroke to essentially just work with the rod. At its smaller lengths I felt like I was still missing in accuracy & feel that I’m accustomed to. This felt like I needed to force it more or do corrective actions which is very different from my other rods. I’m seeing many other Tenkara rods hit the market with what shows on paper to be at lower weight and also less rotational moment (tip heaviness) at or around the same length. I think there is definitely an opportunity for Tenkara USA to go challenge those rods with some modifications, maybe the carbon qualities? introduce some cork with good ergonomics. I could even see a metal butt cap contributing to better balance of the rod. Regardless, I’m no Tenkara master or an engineer. This was simply my experience. Buy it and try it. Tenkara has a great return policy and great customer service.
