Invasive Species

How to properly care and maintain the rod. Rule #1- always push pieces straight in when closing the rod, NO SIDEWAY PRESSURE...., etc.

Invasive Species

Postby tsegelke » Thu Dec 19, 2013 7:06 am

I am going to take a vacation in CO for 2 weeks of fishing. We will be fishing at least 2 or 3 different areas within CO and to not want to transport anything from one place to the next. In CA we have the New Zealand Mud Snail in some rivers, and I work hard to not spread this to my favorite rivers.

Does CO have anything like this? I would like to be sure we have whatever we need to assure we don't spread any invasive species.

Thanks

Colorado (and maybe other western states) has long been battling whirling disease ("Myxobolus cerebralis, a metazoan parasite..."). This can be introduced to previously uncontaminated waters via felt wading shoes. The state wildlife geeks have been very busy (and to some extent successful) in breeding strains of hatchery fish that are resistant to this disease.

I was afraid that they may be present. We will be sure to bring our Quaternary Ammonia to clean our gear.

Thanks for the info.
