Swedish log fire/candle

Postby Daniel @ Tenkara USA » Sun Jul 08, 2012 9:15 pm

Man, I feel like I just discovered fire.
Haven't used these yet, but a friend was telling me about something he just ran across: the swedish log candle/ fire.
Not super applicable to UL backpacking, but pretty neat. You cut slices on a log, build a fire in the middle and it will last a long time. For UL backpacking technique purpose, you could accomplish a similar effect by bundling similar-sized sticks and building a fire in the middle of them.
In any case, thought I'd share it.

My local Raley's has been selling these lately.

Would be fun to use when camping for sure.

Raley's has a log that is split like that?
That's wild, but I can see that as a very good product to buy locally.
