Dry Fly Patterns for Stillwater Fly Fishing

A place to discuss techniques and rigging options for use in "non-mountain stream" areas such as lakes and warm-water areas, as well as non-traditional tenkara techniques such as nymphing.

Dry Fly Patterns for Stillwater Fly Fishing

This is Gary LaFontain's take on the dry fly patterns he has found to be the most effective patterns to use for mountain lake fly fishing. My own experience backs up Gary's findings very well. For most lake anglers dry flies are not the first choice or even an after thought. But for a high lake angler the terrestrial dry fly pattern is arguably the best of all possible choices to include in at leas one of your fly boxes.
