Annual Diet Composition of Trout in Rich Lakes

A place to discuss techniques and rigging options for use in "non-mountain stream" areas such as lakes and warm-water areas, as well as non-traditional tenkara techniques such as nymphing.

Annual Diet Composition of Trout in Rich Lakes

While the trout living in rich lakes have many food sources available to them than the trout living in alpine lakes do, I believe this information is still very valuable from an angling point of view. In alpine lakes we do not have the conditions for aquatic life that promotes large populations of mayflies, damsel and dragonflies, scuds, snails, and leaches, so the terrestrial (land based) insects, water beetles (backswimmers and water boatmen), and midges(chironomids), take on much more important roles for alpine Tenkara or other anglers than these will charts imply, so thake that into consideration as you view them.
