Great timing! Just received a kind gift of antler tips from Stephen. His explanation was very clear, but it's also nice to see pictures.

More antler finishing – not easily found following previous posted links. At least I didn't find them following the web page links, I only found them with continued google search.

fwiw:

trace antler cross section on end of handle – to aid in shaping down wood to same cross section

Not sure if this next bit is common to tenkara tamo or only Ayu tamo- a woven on grip section . I believe steps posted earlier showed this weave being painted over to seal it. Perhaps tenkara tamo makers skip this part.

Thank you D.
All these links are extremelly useful.
The weaving is purely aesthetic, and while I haven't seen any tenkara nets decorated nearly like that, I'm sure that's just the artisan's preference. One of my tenkara nets has a small wrapping near the frame:

Daniel,

All I can say is "WOW!" to that net. You've got to find a way to offer something like that for sale here.

I previously posted this link in the misc section

http://blues-love.seesaa.net/article/152025506.html

It shows a horse hair furled line. But if you click on the tools link on the left side it has 15 articles, showing some little fetish items, accessories to warn the fish and keep them safe, and several tamo frames, on 2 pages. Not a lot of how-to information but some. Mostly nice pictures of different sizes and finishes and a little about the steps in making them.

It does have one tamo related item I've not seen pictured here yet. Though I think it was mentioned.

The ' Tamokesu ' - タモケース - a tamo storage bag.
Or the literal translation is タモ Tamo + ケース case.

Something to make while waiting for your frame to dry. ;)
However, it's not a needed item.

A how-to on attaching a 24cm diameter net to the tamo frame , counting the mesh to determine pin location:

I don't think this web site was posted before, however, the images looked familiar to me when I found this web site. Sometimes the same information or article shows up on different web sites. Posted first time or a duplicate of something posted earlier - I hope it is helpful.
