I like the new Ayu. I have been fishing primarily with the Amago, until a month-two ago when I went back to the Ayu. I'm often fishing a double-dropper setup with a #12 beadhead on top, and both rods work great with it. I lose fewer fish with the Ayu, it's easier on my hand, and I land 16-18" trout on it regularly. I'm hoping that the Ayu II will be an in-between, best of both worlds, kind of rod, and so far it feels like one. Enough writing, I'm off to fish it again :)

How does the new Ayu II compare to the Amago? I have a 12' Iwana and am looking for something that would provide the best compliment to it; little more range for larger waters.

The new rod is a like a softer Amago. Length feels very similar, and the rod has more backbone. Still feels halfway between the Ayu I and Amago.

Tpalka,
Awesome picture!
Do you mind if we share that in our Facebook page and perhaps the blog?

Indeed, I think the Ayu II is right between the Ayu I and the Amago.

Daniel, you're welcome to use the picture however you'd like.

I fished a few more times with the new Ayu, and it's my currently favorite rod :)

Ditto!

Only been able to use in pond for gill and bass but casts so nicely, I will start my 2013 Trout season with Ayu II.
