Your "Go To" Tenkara USA rod for 2012 so far ?

Postby TJ @ Tenkara USA » Fri May 25, 2012 8:06 pm

Just curious what your Go To Tenkara USA rod has been this year. Last couple years it was the Iwana series for me but looks like the Ito has become my Go To rod for 2012. Really enjoying mine.

Even if you only have one rod at this time, please still vote in the poll. If you are a multi-rod owner, then figure out what seems to be your Go To for 2012.

I've fished the Ito the most this year with the Ayu as a close second. Both great rods for different reasons.

Yamame, still my favorite rod. What ever happened to Hornidentity?
I enjoy my Yamame rod so much, I have not found the need for any other Tenkara rods. I find it difficult to fathom mastering fourteen different rods with as little time as most of us have to fish. But perhaps one day I'll try another rod. The Ayu would be my next choice If I ever decide to try another rod. Since the Ayu is sort of the opposite of the Yamame. I think it would make a nice change of pace to have that rod next.

Norcal small stream fishing mostly, so I use the 12' Iwana. Bow casting, reach, castability, and still feeling wild small fish. It's awesome.

Please stop plugging the ITO - I can't afford it!!

Seriously, my "go to" is the 12' Iwana. But I still say the "all round" (i.e. any line/ fly/ fish situation) has to be the Yamame.

I have both and I think the all round rod is the Iwana 12. Just my 2cents.

So far it's been the Ito with the 12' Iwana close at hand .The Ito seems to be the ideal all around Tenkara rod for me this season though I am itching to try out the 5:5 Ayu next.

I'm not claiming that it's a tenkara rod, but my go-to telescoping fly rod just now is my Tanago 10'2" Daiwa Soyokaze; for much of the earlier part of 2012 it was my Ayu. Both are great rods!

11' and 12' Iwana. Is that two rods? :) Not if you have one rod and the extra handle!
