I drove past the Tenkara Rod Co. location in Driggs when going to and from Bitch Creek this past Sept. Should have stopped and took a photo.

Very cool.

I have two projects for the near future.

One is tenkara + pack rafting. I already have purchased my pack raft and am orienting to it on flat water now I'm moving to swift water. It's an amazing experience in itself and now I'll add in tenkara...

The second is mountain biking + tenkara. I have a few streams that mountain biking (fat tire) will really take to as well. I'm looking forward to a couple of articles about people that are really into this type of tenkara +. Super excited about it.

Hello Tenkara Folk!
My name is Sam, I'm into Backpacking, Disc Golf, and chasing slimey trout. I'm originally from Wyoming but have lived in AZ most of my life. I have always loved trout fishing and used to fly fish with my dad when I was a youngster... I primarily used a spinning reel and lures and also liked to drown worms.

Recently, my dad gave me all his old fly fishing gear (Rods, Reels, and a TON of tying gear). I found it all very confusing (in the past my dad did all the dirty work) so I did some research and found Tenkara... It immediately peaked my curiosity with it's simplicity and how well it seems it might work for Backpacking.

I have YET to use my recently purchased Tenkara rod... I'm DYING to get out there... I'd also like to meet some fellow Tenkara anglers...maybe plan a trip or just talk about fishin! I saw on the post that there was an Arizona Tenkara Club? Do they still meet?

Contact Adam Trahan at tenkara-fisher. I'm sure he would know if the club still exist or could point you to other tenkaraists in the area. He lives in Phoenix.
