Noobies DIY tiny fly box...

Postby Soarsimon » Sat Jun 04, 2016 10:29 am

I'm only a couple of days into my fascination with tenkara. I'm really enjoying browsing this forum and reading all of your posts while i anxiously await the delivery of my rod, line, and pattern material.
I was into western fly fishing years ago but my interest waned. The simplistic concept of "less is enough" is very appealing to me, as is the desire to make my own inexpensive gear.
Here is a small fly box I made. A first attempt. It took about an hour and a half over a couple evenings as I had to wait for the glue to dry. Mahogany, bamboo skewer, felt, and olive oil. I'm already thinking about the next one, and I have a branch that may become a net drying now as well.

Thanks!
Mahogany body, a bamboo skewer as the hinge pin, Brown felt to line the inside, and olive oil for finish.
