Slings, chesties and waist packs - oh my!

What are the other ESSENTIAL pieces of equipment you carry with you? How do you pack? How do you hold your gear while fishing? Fly boxes? Snips? you tell us.

I just grabbed a Red Rover sling pack from Amazon for $25 shipped. Took it out on the stream last evening for a few hours and was very impressed. Compression straps on the side securely hold rods, though I'd opt for another tie-in point just in case.

Here is a pack that has been working for me, it is a Camelbak I got on ebay for $15. The channels for the hydration bladder tubing works great to feed rod tubes in.

Image

In the pack I keep:
1 extra rod
2 bottles of water
Snack
Extra 4-6 lb fluoro
Small box of extra flies
2 spare level lines
Keys and phone

Then I wear a very small pouch in front hanging from my neck with:
Hemos
Small box of 6-8 flies
Small amount of fluoro

This pouch is about the size of an ID or passport wallet, just something I sewed out of ripstop nylon.

All of this can take me through a good day of wading.

the only proper thing is what works for you.
Looks like a good setup to me.

That is an awesome idea! I'll have to give it a try.

Vedavoo TIghtlines sling for a light day on the water. The majority of the time, this is the pack I use.
Someone mentioned it earlier, but it doesn't shift or slide around, it stays put.

Zimmerbuilt Tenkara Guide Sling for slightly more capacity for things like lunch (& rod storage)...although I'm thinking of sizing up to either the Deaddrift or Tailwater.

Both brands are great to work with on slight customization and are tenkara enthusiasts.

I have recently been using the Simms sling pack (large). It fits everything I need and more, including a wet weather jacket and lunch/cooking equipment for a day on the stream...

I know I'm resurrecting an older post, but can any of you show me a photo of the Vedavoo with your tenkara rod attached? I'm conflicted over the lite vs. deluxe but I'd like to see how they've attached the loops for connection. Thanks in advance.

As a follow-up to my previous post, I emailed Vedavoo and Scott quickly replied to my questions and included a photo of what it looks like with the tenkara loops. Photo attached.
