Beautiful movies are made with beautiful (and pricey) video cameras. As far as action cameras, here are my two thoughts:

1. GoPro is overpriced and fiddly. In order to make it waterproof you need a case. No immediate playback review.

2. Polaroid...yes Polaroid...makes a well designed, waterproof, rugged sports video camera and multiple mounting hardware options are included and is half the price. It takes still photos as well. It also has no immediate playback review.

I bought the Polaroid last year. I love it! Takes astounding video for the size and price range. In HD no less.

I picked up a GoPro this summer and have been happy with it. The biggest issue I face is that I concentrate on fishing and end up with poor video and photos. Attached is a link to one of the first videos I shot, of forum member JD Smith, edited using a pre-made GoPro template.
