Carrying your Tenkara rod?

Hi guys, looking for ideas on how to carry my rod/s when hiking, etc. I like the minimalist approach. I carry all my essentials on a lanyard around my neck and usually just carry my rod. However, i would like to free up both hands (at least one) for using a staff. Nothing to bulky or heavy. Thought of putting a loop on the handel part of my rod and hooking it to the landyard, but im afraid of losing the end cap and the rod parts sliding out! Im a visual kind of guy so pics or drawings are good. Thanks ahead. Tim

If you're wearing your waders, you should be wearing a belt.
I just stick the rod between me and my belt an hike away.

If you're not wearing waders or a belt, you can turn your rod sock into a quiver by sewing a webbing loop at each end and then running string trough it.

If you're wearing anything with belt loops, get a piece of bungee cord and a spring cord lock thingy, make a 3" dia loop, girth hitch it to a belt loop, stick the handle in it, cinch it down.
Do something similar for the top end, perhaps just using some string to wrap around it and secure to your lanyard?

Lash it to your staff with bungee and or Velcro wraps.

Obviously you could just buy an ebira from zimmerbuilt to carry it as well.
I love my guide sling I bought from him a few months back.

Many people like the Ebira rod quivers. They can be viewed and or purchased at Tenkarabum.com. It is a minimalist sling pack specifically designed with the tenkara angler in mind. I believe there are 3 or 4 models to choose from.

I just carry mine. Either in the open hand, or tucked into anything I got.

I carry mine in an old, unused, nylon bowshooting back quiver... and I have my net and a pocket with my gear attached to the quiver as well...

It's the following model, compatible for left and right handed :D
