Using a feather as an indicator on your level line.

Using a feather as an indicator on your level line.

hey, i noticed this from an anime called tsurikichi sanpei. the main character uses a feather as an indicator above his fly/hook. looks like a real rustic way to fish :)
the cool part was when he hooks a fish, the feather twirls around the line making it more obvious. and it seems like a really lightweight addition to your line as an indicator which seems like it wouldnt affect your casting. i have yet to try this, i usually use a few hi-vis polypro yarn pieces.

Just thought id throw that out there.

Equally interesting would be 釣り三平・毛針 ( Sanpei kebari)

And go here:

Look under the Black and White Kebari - under the Title: Nakashinano Norikura area

The Tsurikichi Sanpei videos (釣りキチ三平ビデオ) (or 釣りキチ三平 動画 ) are a lot of fun, and besides being entertaining they sometimes also show real fishing techniques. Though it seems you either have to watch them with the original Japanese or overdubbed in Italian. (titled Sampei on youtube). However, it seems like at one time I found a website with the Italian audio that had English subtitles, but I've forgotten the website.

Generally I don't use indicators. I don't like the way the wind drag changes the cast. With that in mind use a very small feather if you must.

Be sure to tell us how it goes. I am interested to hear the story.
