That is keiryu fishing. There is a specific name for salmon/steelhead fishing in Japan. I just can't remember it off the top of my head. I am doing some keiryu fishing this season. Also looking into a steelhead trip this fall. Should be lots of fun.

I am spending time this year learning more and experiencing the many forms of Japanese fixed line fishing. Everything from surf fishing in Belieze to tanago (micro fishing). Japanese fixed line fishing has so many interesting methods and varieties.

That looks like a ton of fun.
There were some other good parts beyond the 12-17min range in there for anyone else watching.

Thanks Gregm for posting I enjoyed watching that, I may try fishing for salmon using the same technique here in the UK. It must give great control of the lure/bait.
