Knothead Trout, The People's Game

#11 is really a great triumph, the Grub holes were numerous on this piece of wood. I ended up making the holes work, I had mixed emotions about this Game. It was a worry but I kept going and I'm glad I did. Now #12 will get some more attention.

#11 is pretty cool looking. I really like the holder set up, cool way to showcase the piece.

Here's the journey of my Golden Knothead Trout to the Kern River and Golden Trout Wilderness to meet it's brothers and namesake.

:D Good to see Golden getting out to her natural habitat. Love those boulders, looks like a great place to visit and fish! I see why you wanted to pay tribute to the Golden Trout, Beautiful fish! :D

Here's a better quality pic of the golden trout. I just noticed the other one was taken by my cousin and his garbage cell phone camera.

little blurry, but still better coloring, and you might notice the Ishigaki Kebari tied by John from tenkara guides in the trout's mouth

The Golden reminds me of the Yamame Trout in Japan. Link with a poor picture above.

I am humbled that one of my kebari was used to catch such a beautiful fish.

Lots of sanding to fishing up on 12, three coats of varnish. Still hate the varnish, I like to think of it simply as a protective coating having the wood alone would be nice. But sliding around in the yard can be hard on the little fish. The last flower in my yard for 2012. The cold has finally arrived in my slice of the world.

Thanks Jeremy, glad you like my attempt at humor. That little Sunfish was the perfect size to show with #1. Hope all that see my pictures share the joy of something fun. Can't have enough good feelings. This is be best part of my Knothead carvings, to draw attention to something good.

Got a little further with #12. There's a bit more sanding and coats left. Dam you Varnish! Anyway 12 is turning into a nice Knothead, I like the display idea. The display is just a peach scrap that I debarked and accentuated some of natural character on. Can't wait to finish and send it to Craig. I hope you and the family enjoy a fun outside game, maybe in the snow.
