If it's open later into December I may take it. Need to get me a Tenkara rod first. Parents talked about a trip to the Carolina's in December. May be some good fishing there.

This morning I shipped the Vagabox on to Daniel. The box arrived about the same time as a heat wave, so the fishing started slowing down. But the mornings were still OK and fish were caught. Beautiful ones. I fished a San Juan Worm for the first time and tried a few of the other nymphs, even though I was familiar with them. In the vagabox spirit I tied and fished some soft hackle wet flies for the first time. I sent the box along with the addition of a cdc and elk, jack cabe hopper, and a few wet flies. I fished the Cullasaja river, the headwaters of the Chattooga, and Noland Creek in Great Smoky Mountain National Park. I'm attaching a photo of the vagabox with me on Noland.

PM sent about December. I'll find somewhere to fish it and I'll be tying my own flies for sure by then!

Solid work Mike. I've had a ton of luck (and fun) fishing the SJW with a little action ala Tenkara as well.

I grew up in Franklin, went to cowee valley elementary and my folks still have a place up on wayah rd.
I really really miss the water out there.
Really brings back some good memories. Gotta get back there one day.

Thanks for the reminder in your great photo.

Smokey Mountains have a charicter all of their own. I've only been there once, but I would love to see them again.

I am looking forward to hopefully having my chance to add photo's and flies to this great journey.

Mike, I received the box today. Love the addition of a picture in the log book.
I was so excited when I got it! I mean, I knew it was coming but it was still a bit of a surprise to get it. The flies look awesome. The artwork on the box is fantastic. And, I have to read the journal later, but it looks like a lot of thought was put into it!
Will be trying to use it this weekend, and will be using it in Montana next week.
Thanks all who are participating.

Those are awesome. I can't wait to see the variety of flies, read the log, and add some of my own.

Any way that an update from the log, or where the box is at can be put on the Blog or something?

Wow, you guys .. this Vagabox project is awesome! It might be a bit much to ask, but I too would love it if somehow the project and its log could be blogged. It would be so much fun to follow along vicariously. I've not heard of this kind of experiment being done before - really it's almost like a piece of performance art. Thanks everyone involved. This is a very creative community isn't it?
