Nicest and strongest brown yet..

I just returned from a wonderful trip in the Sierras where I got to spend some time fishing with one of the early tenkara adopters, Mr. Jeff Kreager. I had a terrific time with him and his sons. I wanted to quickly share a couple of pictures and may elaborate more on it later.
Yesterday I landed my nicest fish on tenkara so far, a fat and strong 16" brown that leaped once and held its position for a long time with my rod bent halfway while I tried to pry it out from under the waterfalls. I was using the 13' Ayu, 5:5. Even though I have caught some very large fish when living in Brazil, and salmon off the coast here, this was absolutely the fight of a lifetime.

what a great looking fish, the spots are huge and so many of them, and the river looks really wild, it would be extremely rare to get a big wild brownie like that in a comparable upland stream in the UK. What a great experience, and its even sunny there :lol:

Nice fish!

See, you don't have to target big fish. If they're in the stream, you're going to catch one from time to time.

I can definitely believe it was the fight of a lifetime.

Gets the adrenaline pumping, doesn't it?

Beautiful Fish! We just purchased our Tenkara Rods this morning and we can't wait to get them on the water. My wife and I love the Eastern Sierras and can't wait to use them there.

My Wife's Tenkara Rods:
12' Ebisu and 13.5' Amago, 12' Iwana with a conversion handle, and an Ito.
