First Tenkara Trip...

Postby Belizaire » Sun Apr 15, 2018 9:32 pm

First Tenkara Trip... Guadalupe River State Park just north of San Antonio TX... Brand new TUSA Sato... shallow area of river... walked across... spent about an hour getting used to casting the rod with their 11'6'' tapered nylon line and a dry fly... had trouble with the fly getting wrapped around the rod tip about 6 times... hooked a small "something" that got off... some rocks were quite slippery... finally fell down... reached for a rock to catch myself with hand holding the rod... missed the rock and broke the Sato just above the handle... headed home with a wet rear end, broken rod and wounded pride... contacted TUSA via this site and had new 3 piece handle section shipped in less than 24 hours... FANTASTIC customer service... next time I'll take a walking stick!!!

We're sorry you took a fall, but glad you're happy with the service. The Hill Country has a lot of great water for tenkara. We hope your next trip goes a little more smoothly.

Felt soles work great on rocks.
