...a broken heart, I mean tenkara rod? I snapped my Iwana tonight.
Ordered the replacement parts just now, but will be out of commission probably through the weekend.

I'm headed to my liquor cabinet now for some "medication"... ;)

Sadder than sad can be! May I ask how this happened in hopes of avoiding the same?
Condolences.

I snapped my Iwana too actually a couple weeks back. It was my own fault though. I was trying to get my fly out of a tree and forgot to slide the pieces back together before trying to tug it out.

Replacing was very easy though so it's all good :)

Sorry for your loss! man, that's gotta stink - nice full story on your blog page too, btw.

just stay away from the computer -
to avoid ordering 5 Tenkara rods in the middle of the night-
just so you'll have plenty of spares!

I do plan on one more soon though - just for backup if nothing else!

I was fishing it on some still water - a neighborhood pond to be exact. It's starting to get overgrown with weeds already and one of my flies got tangled in the muck. Instead of breaking down my rod and giving the line a tug (like I know I should have), I gave a quick jerk or two on the rod itself. SNAP! Who's the jerk now? :D

That's why I have ordered extra sections for all my telescoping rods/poles, even those from other sources. There is a learning curve. All the info has been given to keep our rods safe but there is no teacher like experience unfortunately.

T1,

I will let you borrow my Ebisu if you would like. I have not used it yet as I am still working with my Yamame.
