NY opener

Postby terry » Sun Apr 04, 2010 7:54 am

I can't remember a NY opener with better fishing conditions. Air temp was around 65F plus or minus, and water temp was averaged at about 45F. I fished both my fly and tenkara rod. These two brookies were caught on top with a #14 haystacks and my Ebisu.

Nice fish and photos. Conditions sound great too. The brookies have some beautiful color.

Had to wait until today for even one stream near me to fall to fishable levels. Was able to catch a few so it was worth the wait.

This one took a CDC & Elk.

Nice fish too Chris. It's good to see everyone getting out to fish some spring water.

Terry and Chris: nice fish! I'm glad that the season is open for you now.

Chris: I bought the same Fishpond chest pack for tenkara fishing. It is really light and holds everything that I need. It is vastly different from my normal heavily-laden vest, truly in the spirit of tankara "streamlined fishing".

That's Terry's Fishpond.

I ditched my vest when I took up tenkara, and now just use my pockets instead. (Since I wear hippers, I have pants pockets available, too.)
