How well I remember those southern bluegills! Often, when they turned sideways, they caused line burn on my index finger. Of course, with tenkara fishing, that can't happen. :D Nice mess of fish!

Wow, that may be the widest bluegills I've ever seen. Those are beauties!

I am very envious. Those are real beauties. Surface or subsurface?

Oh, they swim in both, Randy. ;) Seriously, this time of year the pond water is still too cold to have surface action, but that could change with of few days of sun and air temps in the 70s. I caught them on an unweighted, slow-sinking gray, gold-ribbed hare's ear. Size 14, I think. I prefer (for pond fishing) the braided (green) line with 6 to 9 ft. of 5x depending on the clarity of the water.

Wow... They sure don't get that big around here!

Those fish aren't just big, I think any aquarist would consider them obese.

You know, I've tried to get them on the treadmill, but they just flop around on it.... 8-) And when I make 'em swim laps the just give me the fin and swim into deep water.

Wow! And I thought starting a new paycheck was a good way to beat the Monday blues. I think your idea is better than mine. Those are some good size Bluegill. Thanks for sharing.

I've got this vicious predator to keep the bluegill from getting too big:

Your "vicious predator" looks like one of my trophies.
