Nice fish on a Tenkara rod. Must have been fun. How long was your leader and tippet? I'm curious every time I see a salt water fish caught.

i just walk the beach, cast-step, cast-step, cast-step. i cover lots of water in a short time. i prefer to fish over sand as the most common saltwater fish around here are flounder. bright flies (chartreuse or pink) work best for me. for line set up i use a 10'6" tenkara line + 10' of 5x. very enjoyable way to spend an afternoon.

Looks like fun. I'll give a try next time I'm at the beach.

Good job! I'm sure you got a few glances from fellow surf fishermen.

I'm eagerly looking forward to a Tenkara surf rod...maybe 16' and can handle 2x tippet. Poor Daniel...so many rod possibilities and so little time.
