Tenkara - Large Streams and Level Lines
Though a small stream style of fly-fishing, tenkara does not have to be limited to fishing very small streams. Or, perhaps the definition of a "small stream" just needs to be revisited. This video shows how tenkara can be used for effectively fishing a larger streams too, primarily using tenkara level lines. Tenkara USA founder shows the advantages of using a long rod and light line, the advantages of tenkara fly-fishing.

Tenkara in small streams
Tactics and techniques for tenkara fly fishing in small streams. The use of a long rod has several advantages even in a very small stream. And, essentially, when using a long rod the angler is substituting line length for rod length.

Tight Loops: Tenkara casting techniques
Tenkara is a pure form of fly fishing that requires proper casting technique. While easier to learn casting with a tenkara rod than with a western fly-rod, some basic casting knowledge can help properly turn the fly over. Futher, some situations may benefit from different types of casting. Daniel Galhardo, Tenkara USA founder, explores some of these in "Tight Loops". We encourage you to explore and enjoy these and other casting possibilities with your tenkara rod.
