Our New Intro Video, 2014

June 4, 2014

5 years after we introduced tenkara outside of Japan, we decided to freshen up the branding, thus the brand new website. And, we figured we should make a new video to go with it. We have created more than 100 tenkara videos over five years for technique instruction and to inspire adventure.

    Greetings,
My son-in-law and I are interested in learning Tenkara. However, neither of us have any fishing experience or knowledge. It also appears that there is nothing in our local area of Huntsville Alabama to learn. I noticed that there are one day classes spread over several weeks in North Carolina and I am assuming other places. Of course, this would not work for us being in Alabama. Are there, or are there plans, to have a 2-3 day camps/trips, equipment included, to introduce and teach people Tenkara.

Much thanks in advance for your time.

    • Hi Gene,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us and browse through the events on our website.
As much as possible we try to expand the areas where classes may take place. A lot of it is dependent on local ambassadors (unofficial ambassadors, who are just passionate about spreading tenkara), and then with our small team traveling where there may be opportunities to present with a local club or fly shop.
We like to encourage people to take it up on their own, I think that’s one of the beauties of tenkara, the idea that one can go fishing without prior knowledge or experience. With that in mind we have tried to build our website with as much relevant information as possible.
I’d like to invite you give tenkara a try and see how it goes. Also, the tenkara community online is pretty active, particularly on the Tenkara Anglers group on Facebook or our online forum, so I’d like to also invite you to participate in those. Many people have connected with others with more experience and gone fishing together, that could be the easiest way to learn from someone.

We hope to hear of you experiencing tenkara soon. And, if you have any questions, feel free to call us at 888.483.6527 or email info@tenkarausa.com.

      Regards,
      Daniel
