Very good episode! As a Montana native I agree with a lot that was discussed. I’ve been fishing Tenkara for two years now my home water is the Yellowstone which I fish about 90% of the time. The Stillwater river is all so a great tenkara river. I’ll be heading to the bighorn river soon; and ofcourse I’ll fishing with tenkara!

I really liked this overview from John, of Montana fishing. My daughter is looking at the U of Montana, so I was taking notes! You asked for suggestions of other locations for future podcasts. I would love to have a similar overview of Washington Tenkara. I’m going up there for a client, and it’s kinda hard to figure out!

It was also fun to learn a little more about John, the best customer service guy in the biz, and the guy to inspired me to tie in hand!

I know John mentioned that he is in Belgrade. I am in Bozeman and a complete newbie to fishing. Your podcast on “trying new sports” really inspired me. Anyway, was curious if you or John could recommend some smaller, off the beaten path smaller streams here in the Bozeman/Belgrade area to get started?

    • Frank, have you tried Hyalite creek? That’s not far away and a popular creek with good amount of fish. Not a secret by any means.

      • Frank says:

        Daniel,
I actually ventured out to Hyalite Creek today. It was my very first time fishing of any sort but I had a blast. Spent about 3 hours out on the river and caught 2 fish. Only lost one fly! Thanks for the advice.
