Unconditional returns for 60 days on rods, nets, lines and flies - plus, keep the flies!
If you ordered at least one rod, and set of flies, but decide to return the rod, you may keep up to two sets of flies as a gift ($15 value). Just our way of saying thanks for giving tenkara a try.

If you have spent the time reading our site, watching our videos and are ready to purchase tenkara gear, we know you'll love the simplicity of tenkara fly-fishing. Even if you just want to give tenkara a try, but are not sure whether it is for you, you may return your purchase to us, no questions asked, within 60 days of your purchase. Just send us an email to notify us of the return and whether you want an exchange or refund. Then, please mail the rod along with a note requesting the full refund to the address below. Please use a service with tracking information to ensure delivery. Special products (e.g. tenkara leather wallets and t-shirts have a 14-day return policy). This is valid only for rods purchased directly via Tenkara USA, authorized dealers may have their own policy.
Our goal is simple, to see as many tenkara rods being used in streams. That means we don't want any broken rods to be sitting in a garage somewhere and will make it easy for you to use them. So, all Tenkara USA rods are fully warranted for life of product.
* Limits may apply to breakages due carelessness and product abuse, including but not limited to: stepping or running over a rod, trying to catch sharks, fighting bears, using rod as a tent pole, etc...
* Contact us first so we know you have a problem, what rod model you have, etc. We will determine the best way to proceed, depending on the problem, and will get your rod back in working order the quickest way possible. We will provide instructions on how to proceed with getting it done.

Repair / Replacement segment charges:
USA: $17 shipping and handling. Waived for defective products.
INTERNATIONAL: $25 surcharge (additional $10 surcharge for Ito), plus shipping and handling. The surcharge will allow us to send you a replacement rod, instead of requiring you to send the rod to our USA operations.

We pride ourselves in having very few defects, but will always make it right for our customers. Please contact us first to request return authorization and so we know to expect your item back and so we may provide further instructions. We'll replace the item quickly and refund you for the cost of shipping it back to us.
**** ITEMS CAN ONLY BE CONSIDERED DEFECTIVE IF WE ARE NOTIFIED WITHIN 60 DAYS OF PURCHASE. AFTER 60 DAYS, ITEMS WILL BE CONSIDERED “BROKEN/DAMAGED".
**** FAQ: some customers contact us complaining about a problem with their rod tip (e.g. rod tip didn't come with the rod!). Sometimes the soft rod tip (braided line material) may get the very first tip stuck inside the second segment. If you experience this, you may open the screw cap on the bottom of the rod, remove the tip segment and reinsert it back in. The tip is there, but if it didn't have a stopper knot it may slip inside. Also, make sure to follow the instructions on extending the telescopic rod properly. Each segment must be pulled out in order, starting with the tip. If you pull the thicker segments out first, the tip or thinner segments may stay inside the rod. Contact us first and we'll help troubleshoot the problem.
NOTE: Tenkara USA rods have a current breakage rate of less than 1.3%. Most breakages will occur when setting up or closing the rod. Please keep the following tips in mind:
- When setting up your knots always leave the fragile hard tip inside the main segment, exposing only the string at the tip of the rod as you set up,
- Never exert any sideway pressure on the rod segments when closing the rod,
- Always close rod segments by holding the thickest part of the segment you're closing (closest to next thickest segment),
- Handle the first 3 tip segments very carefully,

LINES, NETS, FLIES and ACCESSORIES: Tenkara USA lines, nets, flies and accessories are guaranteed free of defect. Should they have any defects at all, please contact us for a replacement within 60 days. Due to the unique nature and usage of these items, they are not covered under warranty. We will try our best to replace/fix items for a reasonable fee.
