I've always enjoyed the simple things in life, and I've fished 3-4 times a week for the past 5 or 6 years, so naturally when I discovered Tenkara I was very intrigued. I'm 21 years old, and am currently in school for EMT-B training. I just have a cheap telescoping rod right now (I won't give any more details, out of respect for the site owner and his brand) but plan on purchasing a Tenkara USA rod in the very near future, once I get my summer job going again.

My username is Tenkara from scratch because I plan on making and creating almost all, if not all of my gear on my own. I'm a very creative DIYer and I've been tying my own flies for years. I even have some rod building experience, and will attempt to make a Tenkara rod at some point, but that's a ways off.

I look forward to learning and contributing in the near future. This is a great site and Tenkara looks like a great method for catching fish.

Ditto!! The real beauty of Tenkara is it's versatility and simplicity. I got a little tired of the 30 minute rigging and outfitting process with my traditional western gear. This weekend, I literally walked into the river with two Tenkara USA rods and a net inserted in my wader belt and a box of flies in my pocket. Beautiful!!! I heartily recommend the Tenkara USA equipment -- Daniel and TJ provide the ultimate in customer service. Welcome aboard!!

tenkara from scratch, Welcome to the forum. I also enjoy making the Homemade Tenkara gear. The handmade gear makes my fishing experience more enjoyable. I eagerly await your creations.

I'll try to get some pictures of my flies up today, if I can get my camera to cooperate. It doesn't like to focus on small objects up close. :)

Hey, welcome, Tenkara from Scratch.

Any chance you'll turn that EMT-B into a W-EMT?

Whereabouts do you live?

Rob

I have a serious bee allergy, so I can't really get more than 2-hours out from where paramedics can meet me, and if I'm more than an hour out from where they could meet me, I can't be alone. That really limits my fishing, but it REALLY limits my ability to become a W-emt. I would love to become a flight paramedic eventually, the guys that work on patients in the helicopter on the way to the hospital, but that's a ways off.

I live in Bellingham, Washington during the school year, and I live in Stevenson, Washington during the summer. Although this summer will likely be my last in Stevenson, as I plan on getting married around this time next year.
