Added to my gear bag a nice waterproof shockproof camera. I already own a HeroHD but they make everything fish eye view and other than for some first person video, I wanted something to use while on the water that can work above and below the waterline for pictures and video.

Found these Pentax cameras that have a nice rubber outer shell and can be beat up a bit. So far so good and I like the camera. Has a nice caribeaner on the strap so you can strap to your pants or whatever and have the camera there ready to take a photo of my fish or other wildlife.

I chose the Orange color. :D

One day hope to get some video of it being used under water.

TJ,

I have one of these cameras also. Great little camera. I have used mine all over. One of the other things I like to do is caving. I have taken mine on a dozen or so trips. Caving can be one of the harshest environments for a camera. I have forced it through tiny mud covered tubes, rappelled a couple hundred feet down a waterfall, jumped in many plunge pools, etc, etc. and it still takes photos. It is not the quality of a full on SLR, but you definitly get what you pay for. Oh, and it takes great vids. I also like it for fishing!

BTW, I purchased mine from Target online store for only $199. This camera sells for over $300 so was a rather great deal.

I have the olympus tough stylus 6000. It's a good camera also, a bit outdated now. I would love to get my wife a better camera for her birthday with the same type of uses you both speak of. Tj please let me know how you like it too. The underwater video and pictures are always fun to take and share. I do find it difficult to get good video posted on the internet however. I think great pictures are a must for fishing and outdoor adventures. Another piece of essential gear IMO.

I have the Nikon Coolpix AW100. No complaints so far and it takes some good macro photos also.

I have a Pentax Optio W30 love it. It's been on the water with me a lot of times.

So I got to know. Have you actually stuck the camera underwater and taken photos? How do they look?

I think you'll like it. I've a W30 and a W80 and they have both been good cameras for fishing. I had to get the W80 because I somehow ruined the LCD display on the W30. Both have seen time underwater.

Here's my favorite UW shot that I've taken.

I would assume the new versions are even better.
