I've been looking everywhere for a place that has both the march brown and dyed medium dun Whiting Brahma hen capes and am not having much luck. Looks like the shortage is hitting everyone. Anyone know who might have some of these left in stock?

P.S. I'm not looking for suggestions on substitues. I only what to know if anyone still has these exact hackles in stock.

The Bob Marriots site shows the March Brown:

The Bears Den site shows the Medium Dun:

Obviously I can't say for sure what's in stock, but their sites list them. You may need to call them to be sure.

Hopefully someone else knows of a place that has both. It's always nice to combine shipping costs.

The Fishermen's Spot in Van Nuys has always had a great selection of tying materials. Their site is not very complete, but if you call them they could probably help.

These type of responses with the added links are just one of the reasons why I love this forum. Love the links...just wish I myself could figure out how to add them.

JD, the links can be added inline with your post simply by copying and pasting the URL into you post. I find it is a good idea to get into the habit of putting a link within the [URL] tags when you paste it. If the link is too long in terms of characters, it can get truncated as in the example below. The truncating of the link does not seem to happen consistently though. This reinforces the use of the tags for me even further.

Let's see of this works the way it did when I first posted the link…

Truncated link:
http://www.bobmarriottsflyfishingstore. ... ord=brahma

Same link within the proper BBCode [URL] tags:
http://www.bobmarriottsflyfishingstore.com/fly-tying-materials/feathers/whiting-farms/brahma-hen/whiting-farms-brahma-hen-capes?keyword=brahma

Yep. I pasted the same text both times, but the first one without the proper tags was truncated whereas the second one works/displays correctly. If you want to see exactly how I've used them, click the 'Quote' button at the lower right of this post and look at the tags I've used. Oh yeah, when you are making a post, there is a button which will put the tags in place, then you can paste the URL in between them.

Hope that helps a little.

Darrin, thanks, this is good info! It would be nice tog et them from the same place but might not be possible. I will check it out. Everyone I talk to keeps telling me about the great hackle shortage and how everything is on backorder for months. I hope it wasn't that stupid hair trend thing.

Glad to help. Yeah, the whole hair feather thing…I know it affects the smaller dry fly hackle but I am not sure about other feathers. I hope you get what you are looking for.

I don't think the hair trend has affected Brahma hen at all.
Jimsflyco.com is very reliable, in the UK

Jason,

I ordered some from Bob Marriots a few weeks ago. They had a long list of colors and all were shown as being in stock. I ordered March Brown, but I do not remember if they have medium dun.

Hope this helps
