Anyone watch this yet? I saw Jason Klass post a link to it.

Wondering, the line being used, bright yellow, seems more substantial (girth and appearance) than what most of us use today.

It looks like maybe a traditional line of some kind maybe?

Maybe just the way the camera picks it up but seems much thicker than the lines I have been using to date.

Nice video by the way and I tell you, you might get looks on a western stream but for me, I dig the Japanese style head coverings. Seem so functional.

I've always kind of dug those conical hats (made with rice straw?). I've never seen one up close, but they look like they would allow a pretty good amount of air to circulate in comparison to western style hats while providing excellent shade as well.

I don't know about the line he's using.

The line looks like a Masterline. They are braided (not furled) and cast like a bullet. Heavy, though. I didn't particularly like the one I tried although I can see why some people like them.

Cooley hats are the best when out in the humid summer heat on the water. I've got two now. I still search for the form fitted Japanese type though. The head band portion I'll probably have to make myself, or lengthen for my big head, if that is I ever find a Japanese kasa.
I like this one.

Thanks for video, noticed that rod grip on there too.

Good video find by Jason. I know that Shimano makes Tenkara rods and I have checked the tv shimano Fishing Cafe videos several times looking for a video highlighting their tenkara gear and never found one.

I suppose I could qualify for the same name. I have a grey beard and grey hair, what's left of it, and I live in the mountains. :)

The old fisher in the video is "瀬畑雄三 (Sebata Yuzo)".

He is one of the famous tenkara masters and is one of the advisers of the following club.

I do not know what kind of line he is using now, but he used a relatively thick an heavy furled taper line several years ago. I'm not sure but the he may use a line shown in the following site.

Anyway, he is very famous, and many web sites are hit by "瀬畑雄三" .
Try to explore yourself.

Where do you get Masterlines? It looks like it would work great on a windy small lake I like to fish.
