Hi,
Does anyone know the answer to this....

If i have the 11ft IWANA rod and then purchase the series 2 handle upgrade that states 9ft 6".. Does that mean with the new handle the rod will become 9ft 6" long???

I have the ITO and its too long for some of the water i fish.. I would like a shorter rod and was thinking i could buy the IWANA with the additional handle and then have the option of fishing either it as either 9ft 6" or 11 ft ???

I suppose the other option is to buy the 12ft IWANA and the 11ft handle ??

Hope someone can shed some light on this for me ;)

Regards

Yea, I have the 11' Iwana and I bought the Iwana handle add-on. By just switching the new handle with a few sections, the rod goes from its normal length to the 9'4" rod. You can switch it back to the normal 11' rod anytime too.

I have fished it both ways and it works great. I use the smaller rod for fishing streams that are like 2 to 3 feet wide.

There is also another post onthe subject in the Tenkara forums:

Hope this helps.

Yes, you've got it right. Another option is to buy the 12'er and also buy the 9'6'' handle. If you start with the 12'er you could essentially build all three.

Hi JD,
So if i get the 12ft i guess i would need to purchase both the 11ft and 9ft6 handle to create all 3 sizes... or are you saying that i can make all 3 with the 9ft 6 handle?

Thanks

I also have the 11ft Iwana and upgraded handle. I love it because most of my streams are very overgrown. Also the action on the shorter rod is 7:3 which makes it perfect for tight cast. Anyway I love it!

Hi arjxh56,

Well, if you go the route of the 12' Iwana first, then yes you would have to buy the other two handles to complete the Iwana line up. If you buy the 11' Iwana you could only go shorter from there. You cant make an 12' Iwana out of an 11' Iwana. You can only build them shorter from your original purchase of ether the 12'er or 11'er. Keep in mind that if you have an 12'er you can build ether one of the other lengths by purchasing just the one desired handle.

Cool, thanks.
I have the ITO which gives me 13 and 14'7... I think the IWANA 11' and the 9' 6 handle will probably be more use to me than the 12 with 11ft handle?

Thanks for your help.

Cool, good idea. But just to clarify (because I sometimes don't write things very clearly) You can make the 9'4'' out of the 12'er with just the one 9'4'' handle option. Not sure if I had been confusing about that.
