Just wanted to make a quick announcement that the 2012 Tenkara Summit is on and we're now starting to plan for it.

The 2012 Tenkara Summit event will be held on July 28th and 29th in Utah.

The event is being co-organized with the Tenkara Guides of Utah. Location and further details will be announced soon. This event will be held over 2 days to allow for clinics, etc.
Please RSVP at http://tenkarausa.com/summit.
A few more details are being finalized. Day 1 will be held at the Officer's Club, a great looking facility. Day 2 still to be determined.
Anthony Naples has been working behind the scenes to create another outstanding piece of art for our second Tenkara Summit. I would like to take the opportunity to thank him for it. It is very much in the style of the first summit, thus developing a look for the Tenkara Summit. It depicts the Salt Lake City skyline, the 3 streams coming off its mountains, and the famous Utah cutthroat.

Super excited to help Daniel put on the second Tenkara Summit. We've got tons of perfect tenkara water, and lots to do when you're not on the water too.

I'm sure Daniel will post more details as they come up, but please feel free to leave comments and suggestions. We may not be able to incorporate all your ideas, but this second summit should be a blast!

Congratulations to the Tenkara Guides for co-sponsoring the next summit with Daniel! This definitely qualifies as the big announcement that Erik has mentioned for a number of weeks.

For me this location is easier to travel to than West Yellowstone. Hmm .. I'm starting to check my calendar for next summer.

Very cool. Can't wait. This time I will have to fly so I can maybe take a few days off for vacation and fish, something I need to try and do more often.

Less work is a good thing if I can fish. 8-) 8-)

I will make sure I get the time off for that weekend and maybe a couple of days after that weekend so we'll have time to travel home. Thanks so much for posting the days early enough for us to plan our vacations around this. Utah, here we come!

Any information on where in Utah the Summit will be?

[Edited: Sorry, I should have re-read Daniel's announcement before posting. He said, "Location and further details will be announced soon."]

Our calendar is marked. We already have plans to be camping and fishing in Montana about then and can easily swing down to Salt Lake, Ogden, or whatever UT site is chosen. I'm so pleased this is turning out to be an annual event. Thanks for the Tenkara Guides for their part in making next year's event possible. ~Paul

Daniel doesn't know that tenkara is alive and well back east. Some eastern tenkaranauts feel slighted by the continuous western focus ......I just got a call from one! I talked him down by getting him to realize that its the fishing that counts and summit meetings are about other stuff.
Remember...its TenkaraUSA.....emphasis on the USA ?
If you want to grow it you can't stay west of the Mississippi river.

This year we had the generous offer of the Tenkara Guides from Utah to help organize the event. It was a lot of work to organize the first one myself and I wanted to have that help, someone to run the event so I could also enjoy it a bit too. Further, the Outdoor Retailer show will be held the weekend after in Salt Lake City, so I wanted to take advantage of that. Utah was a very logical place this time.

With that being said, I would like to do a gathering, possibly two out East this year. I am anticipating Tenkara Summit 2013 to be held that way too. How's the end of July for such an event? Or, is it better to do it a bit later, early Fall? Of course, it is way too early to talk about it but it is in my mind.

If anyone wants to organize an event (not a Summit) this year on the East Coast, and get a group of approximately 15-20 people together, please contact me. I would like to visit PA, as that has the biggest concentration of tenkara anglers out east.
