Six months after the earthquake and tsunami - the old becoming part of the new.
Searching the internet for something totally unrelated I found this web site with 36 pictures showing the construction of a noodle shop, which will be the beginning of a rebuilt marketplace.
Motoyoshi, Miaygi, Japan
What I found interesting is that wooden beams, from buildings over 100 years old that were destroyed, and slate shingles from destroyed homes are becoming part of the new shop along with downed trees that are being made into decorative columns for the shop. Koichi-san catches and grills his first salmon in three months, a hint that priorities remain rearranged. Finally, people from a coastal community would know how-to tie a net and make some left over materials into a hammock.
