Sotory of Soseki(素石) Yamamoto(山本) 2

AT first,Soseki was a bait fishing angler.

He enjoyed to catch a lot of fish.

But he was not satisfied the bait fishing.

Because, he thought that it was natural to catch fish.

So ,he wanted another way without bait.

He found Tenkara where was pllaying at Kisofukusima Pre in Nagano Japan.

Kiyoshi-san, looking forward to learning more about Mr. Soseki and his history with tenkara. I am happy you can talk about him first-hand and will talk about him at the summit.
Thank you,

Story of Soseki 3

Soseki learned tenkara by Mr. Hideki(英樹) Sugimoto(杉本) who was a doctor and lived in Kisofukusima Nagano Pre.

Soseki lived in kyoto City. It is a long distance From Kyoto to Kisofukusima, may be over 300 km.

But Soseki wanted to learn tenkara fishing that was a new method for him.

Soseki decided to go Kisofukusima for learning tenkara with his fishing club's friends.

Tha name of fishing club is very unique. It is “No-tarin Club”. What is No-tarinn?

To be continued.

No-tarin Club what ?

Mr.Soseki Yamamoto made the fisfing club that the name was No-tarin Club.

No-tarin means fool or stupid. In fact.they are not fool or stupid.Just only, they love fishing very much.

Menber of Notarin-Club included a very famous scientist Kinji(錦司) Imanissi(今西).who was a proffesor of Kyoto University.

Soseki and oter 6 menbers joined with plenty of streams and mountains in Japan.

Kiyoshi,

Thank you for this history. Could you tell us some of the dates (years) when these events happened?

Eddie,

Thank you for finding the Kinji Imanishi Archive. He was quite a person! I saw that he had a report on the Alpine Club. I hope that maybe there is a mention of tenkara somewhere in his papers.

I found a book written by Kinji Imanishi, and its title is "Iwana and Yamame -- biology and fishing of mountain stream fish"
