Anyone use this knot?

Looks nice and quick.

I have been all about the Davy Knot this year but this Speed Clinch Knot might be one to try.

The one thing that I have had issue with using the Davy Knot, and not sure if I will have the same issue with this Speed Clinch Knot, is getting hackle of the reverse hackle style flies I use stuck in between the knot.

Will give this Speed Clinch Knot a whirl soon.

That knot takes a long time. I always go with an improved clinch myself eight wraps back through spit pull fish lol....takes all of ten seconds and super secure. The only knot I trust completely!

Sorry, forgot to mention, I did not mean all the other mumbo jumbo on the added knows and hooks he was connecting, I just meant the very first knot when he wraps around his finger times and pulls the tag end through and cinches down, know done, fish.

The whole video covered connecting all this other rig-a-marro that we can ignore <grin>

I prefer the improved cinch. The Cinch has pulled loose on me a couple of times when landing fish (probably my not twisting enough times), but the improved cinch takes about the same time.

I finally got Tie Fasts Knot Tying tool and use it for everything. Fast, Strong, and have never lost a fish for the knot.

It's what I like. :D

TJ, I think it a great way to tie a great knot. I'll be trying it the next time I'm out. I've used the clinch knot fishing for 50 years it works as well today as it did then. As far as how the guy riggs a dropper I rig it the same way less tangles than any other way I've tried. If it aint broke don't fix it just fish it. Tenkara is about keeping it simple right. As far as tie fast goes I got one to me it's in the way more than anything. I tie #22's just fine with out it. I'm just 59 maybe when I get old I'll need one. Just one more gadget to carry that I don't need, wish I had my money back.

I've been tying my clinch knot that way for a long time. I use to use the Orvis knot tying tool and realized I could tie the clinch knot that way with my fingers after I lost the tool. When I float tube I tie on my dropper just that way. Works just as well as the old school way of tying the clinch knot but faster, though it does seem to use a bit more tippet each time.

If the Improved Clinch is your favorite, try this speed technique but putting a hemostat in the loop instead of an index finger. Grab the tag through for the Clinch then press the tag back through the "improved" loop while still holding on. Grab the tag with a pinch and your done.

Still, my favorite speed knot is the Hemostat Eugene Bend as noted in the Tenkara Book and popularized by FFF's Bruce Harang. More secure than a clinch, only three turns, and has that reassuring click when it is seated correctly. Here is a reasonable video:

Doesn't really look like it saves that much time to me. Plus, I'd be afraid I'd hook my finger.

I find that now I am using a lot more fluorocarbon material instead of mono, that the clinch knot will come undone some of the time; but with the Davy knot I have never had a knot failure/coming undone.

I think this is a good thing for people to try out. Everybody's hands work a little different so for one person this might work better and another not so much. It's good to have options. Plus, Will is an old friend of mine and it was kind of cool to see him pop up on the screen. He's a great guy and an excellent fisherman.
