A few days ago Stephen sent me the links he found on tenkara nets, which I hadn't seen. And, Adam had also compiled these in the past for tenkara-fisher. Thank you both for compiling these excellent links (some were the same).

I really like this first link with "clear" instructions and showing the craftsman working on a pretty small area with few tools:

Thank you Daniel, it is nice To be recognized by your peers. I am not fond of the style of tamo with the acute handle angle. It works with a belt ok however I enjoy using the net holder on the belt. It is versitile in that you can carry verticle in back or on the side horizontally. I believe the side carry increases the usefulness twofold and is worth the effort of contemplation.

The net in this application has become even a usefull tool in that I can now use it to hold my box or haemostat/dryer as I rig, or nest fish as both hands are now free. If you use a wading stick, you may want to take a few moments to consider this.

Easily made yourself, or I will help you.

Please use good judgment when taking a branch. Personally, I would suggest purchasing a net, even at a couple of hundred dollars, the expense is easily absorbed once one realizes the increased usefullness of a tamo in this configuration.

Making your own is good, consider the time and learning curve as well as the tree.

Rick, check tenkara-fisher for an American net craftsman that makes a fine net for this system. I am completely satisfied with mine at about two hundred dollars and I am not rich with money.

Again, thanks for the recognition Daniel. In my view, that is honerable.

I'm with Adam on judicious branch selection. You are better off using some thing from your own or a friends property rather than making a commando raid on public or private land.
My experience in making three tamos also proves Adam's point that it is cheaper in the long run to buy one than make one, unless you have huge blocks of free time.
Consider this ( most of us have experienced this)...those flies that you buy for two bucks apiece in the fly shop you can tie yourself...... for three bucks apiece.

I found another web page about making Tamo nets. Perhaps you will find it interesting too.
