After many requests and a long wait for us to develop nets we'd feel very comfortable offering, our exclusive tenkara nets are now available. These are great nets, beautiful, strong, and functional, which we are able to manufacture with consistency while maintaining most of the attractions of the original tenkara net. A great net to actually use without feeling bad:http://www.tenkarausa.com/product_info.php/products_id/114

Immediately ordered one. Can't wait!

Daniel, what is the wood used for the frame and handle? Very handsome from the photos.

Simple and elegant. I may have to start netting my fish. I usually let them just shake off or use my forceps while they are still in the water if I'm not keeping them for dinner. I'm rethinking that now. Wow!

The wood is called Samak, only available in Asia, and pretty good for this type of application, and pretty too, in my opinion.

I also didn't use to use a net in the past, and first started using them for the films, it made it easier to manage the fish, but soon I just realized it's often times much easier on the fish, you net them keeping the net in the water and they stay calm, not thrashing around. Often times not handling a fish at all or trying to remove it without touching it works just fine, but sometimes the fish may keep jumping around as you do that, and I came to think the net is actually much easier on the fish, it keeps them calmer in the water. I now am a net convert :) as you may have guessed

Samak is the common name for Eucalyptus (scientific name, Schima). Samak refers to Eucalyptus found in Korea & China.

Nice selection.

After having spent two days installing windows 7, Premiere Pro and a slew of other apps, and then doing it again the hard way because something went wrong along the way, I figured I needed to do something nice for myself, and lo and behold, you have some really nice nets now!

Now, are they too (as the wallets) only available direct from you in the US, or do you have one in the UK you could ship to me here in Denmark?

These are currently only shipped from the US, we have not yet sent any to the Canadian and UK warehouse. The shipping cost will be the same as for other orders, but there is always the possibility of customs charges.

I have a TenkaraUSA net in hand and all I can say is that I wish I'd found it before I started making tamos ! It looks good...the laminations at the hoop handle join are well done. This net hoop flexes less than any of the ten wooden tamos that I have made from single branches. The artfully laminated hoop solves the problem inherent in single branch tamos . I'm about to walk over to the local bluegill pond and give it a try. Netting bluegills is a bit silly......just hope I don't see anyone I know.

A good product Daniel....well done.

Hmm, looks like I'll have to send for one even if it's coming directly from across the Atlantic and pay the induced customs

Edit:
And it's ordered ...

I seem to be following a pattern here, lol :?
