I fish Tenkara exclusivly on all rivers now.
I found the Tenkara masters concept of using a single fly doubtful after my experiances in the past .
The 'match the hatch' approach being the usual best advice here.
So ... i have given it a try using a Ishigaki Kebari, Size 12.
From mountain stream to lowland chalk stream to recovering rivers in urban industrial enviroments this is the fly !!
The Martini fly ..anytime, any place , anywhere ..... as the 70's ad said.
This is a killer fly.
I use a long line for a 3.6 mtr rod,.. 4 mtr furled (Hand made by Custom Furles, visit his website) or a level line, with a 2 or 1.4 mtr tippet.
I tie a figure of 8 knot at the joint with the tippet and level line and leave the ends 5mm long , this acts as a visual guide to lifting the main line off the water.
With a furled line i place a tiny yellow bead at the joint ....

works for me .. never had so many WBT in difficult conditions...

What, pray tell, is a Martini fly? Surely, it is tied in olive. I like the bead between line and tippet; sort of a permanent strike indicator or line-float assist.

Very good ... very ...lol
In the 70' and 80's there was a famous advertising campaign in the UK featuring the 'Martini Man'.
Anytime, any place , any where ... was the slogan.
The beads are about 2.5mm in diameter and came from my grandaughters 'make your own necklaces' kit ... she's never noticed there missing ...
