Here's what I'm thinking for guidelines...

You get the box for 2 weeks. Let's start with a predetermined amount of flies, say 25-30. You replace whatever you lose with something similar ish or not, whatever. Then throw in 2 extra flies of your choosing. Part of the fun is the surprise in what you get. Maybe limit any one pattern to a quantity of 2-3. Fish, post stoke, carry on.

There will be a logbook to chronicle fishing days, pattern sketches, hopes and dreams, etc. maybe we try not to ramble on too much here in an effort to get folks interested. You wanna know what fun is being had? Sign up.

I'll keep a sign up post edited so everyone knows where it's going next. Try to be punctual with your mailing. Also, maybe we try to keep the post going in an orderly fashion, ie CO peeps sign up with more CO peeps. If it crosses the pond, we get those folks on board together.

Anyone have any other ideas?

acheateaux....If your going to start the fly box with about 30 flies initially, would you like a donation of flies to get started? I could tie up a half dozen or any number you would like (maybe 2 different patterns, three flies each or 3 patterns, two flies each...etc.) to donate. To me, seeing what flies are added to the box from the start and over time will be just as interesting as seeing where the box goes and what it catches.

Sounds like we need some kind of box to hold the journal and the fly box for shipping (I suspect some other items might find there way into the box too) - maybe something like wooden cigar box?

If we are going to use the fly box that I have - we don't have to if somebody has something else more traditional or groovy that they want to use - I can add my initial offering of flies and send it along to you, acheateaux, others cans then send their initial contributions to you and you can send it out. Or I could collect the flies from others and send it out to the first destination myself.

However you want to do it.

So far, it's looking like a go. If you want to donate some flies to get going, feel free. Just let me know and I'll PM you my addy. But I have enough random cool stuff to flush this thing out to begin with.

Anthony, PM sent.

New thread started here!!! Get on it boys!

Sorry I didn't see this before.

I love the idea! I think Anthony's box donation will work better than the bamboo box, which I thought of donating when I just read this post.
I'm in too. For sometime I was thinking of fishing with anybody's flies that they sent me, as a proof that it is technique not so much the fly.
We absolutely need pictures of fish with these flies.
Let me know if I should send some flies along. I'll post on the other thread too.

If you're just itching to donate a bamboo box, I can help you out with that.
