In honor of the high mountain stream season getting off to an early start...

My foam "bumblebeetle" pattern is my go-to for the high mountain creeks. It's also a great late season bug on the Arkansas. It lasts forever and even looks better after being chewed on for a day or two. Being a heavier fly, it plunks down in the water well and grabs the attention of any fish around.

No legs, just a strip of black foam and a chunk of yellow for an indicator at the head/body junction.

How about a quick bumblebeetle video instead of a pic?

I find my cameras video capabilities are poor. And so are the close up pics. But anyway here's my experimental version of the "Bumblebeetle" I just put together.

And a roachbeetle, probably more like dysco's Bumblebeetle. Very easy I'll try it out next time I get out to fish.

Got some sheets of craft foam from JoAnns frabric store, $.99 a sheet. Could probably make a lifetime supply of beetles for three bucks. Can't wait to try them out.
