OK, with my recent interest in small flies and the answers and responses I've had on the forum; I'm going to host a fly swap for flies tied on size 20 hooks and smaller. I made this decision after Wednesdays fishing outing using tiny flies and racking up tons of small bluegill.

The Rules so far;
-Hook - size 20 or smaller
-Style - anything you want. Tenkara tratitional, Western traditional, new pattern, crazy pattern; whatever you want to tie
-tie 11 flies (one for everybody but yourself) label fly with a name, your name, recipe of materials used and any special instructions for tying or fishing if you want.

Preferably these will be flies that you have used and caught fish with, but don't have to be.

Send me a PM and when we've got 12 (including me) we'll figure out a timeline to have them "turned in" and other details.

I'm going to pencil in acheateaux and jd_smith unless they tell me otherwise since they both expressed direct interest in a swap in my small fly post. That leaves 9 spots to fill.

Feel free to send me suggestions or comments as I haven't done this before.
Bruce

Thanks for hosting, count me in. I will tie either my Micro Sakasa Kebari/O-Sakasa (http://www.tenkaraonthefly.net/2011/02/ ... ebari.html) or my lazy RS2.

Yes, I'm still in. :ugeek: Your rules have opened up a new world for a Tenkara USA fly swap. Tenkara flies as a tool, so to speak. Should be interesting.

I'll join in too - I was trying to resist...but I can't do it.

I'm not sure what I'll tie yet.

My fly tying skills are just not up to par yet. One of these swaps i would love to join. When I met TNTom we traded flies,of coarse his better then mine. Really like the idea of trading up some creations. I made a fly from one of Tanagobums small eyeless bait hooks. (First time we purchased for Chris, refreshing to see such good customer treatment.) The fly is so small it's hard to get my camera to get a clear focus on SuperMacro. The hook is eyeless so I made a loop from thin macrame cord. I do love to see the examples of whats working in everyones neck of the woods though.

That makes 6. That's half as many as we need for a fly swap! Tiny flies don't have to have a tiny fly swap! Jump in! Try your hand! Ruin your eyes!.....hmmm.....probably shouldn't have said that last one...

Tie a mini Sakasa Kebari in your favorite colors; it doesn't have to be something completely new.
We need more victims...I mean "participants"...

hmmmmm; I've got an idea for a small, but worthless, bribe. Back later.

:D

AND HERE IT IS!!!!
Your small but worthless ;) bribe to join the Flea Swap;

Image

My local fly shop, Cohutta Fishing, has graciously donated these custom imprinted fly boxes!
( ok, truthfully they're the boxes you get to put large flies in when you buy them from the shop :D )
There is a strip of magnetic material that gets stuck in the bottom, which should help with the "fleas"
(The magnet isn't something you normally get!)

And before you ask or accuse; No, I didn't steal them! I told Andy what they were for and he said "Sure, take 'em". He even knew it was for Tenkara flies and still agreed. Hmmmm, might be hope for him yet.

Image

I have a couple of these (that I can't find for pictures ) that I have punched a couple of holes through, strung a cord and clip and I use them to just hang from a pocket flap while I'm fishing.

I told you it was small! I told you it was useless!

BUT;
You could be the first fisherman on your block (unless you live/shop/visit Cartersville Ga.) to have your very own Cohutta Fishing plastic fly cup! If response is good (and anyone cares) I may be able to go back and talk him into......wait for it.......

Image

....Stickers!

Yes, yes, I know, this added attraction is causing heart palpatations and a veritable stampede of flea tyers clamoring to sign up but only a total of 12 will be allowed and that means there are only 6, yes 6, spots left!

Don't delay, sign up today!

(not valid with coupon, void where prohibited, no returns, do not pass "go" do not collect $200)

Just tied a Sakasa "Spider Mite" Kebari. I'm in for the Flea swap, if there's room for a new fly tier.
