Tenkara USA is a fully independent, US-based company. It was founded and is run by Daniel W. Galhardo. Daniel has spent years researching and learning everything he can about tenkara. Truly, tenkara has become his single most important subject in life, he needs no floatant, no weight and no reels, yet continues catching trout. In this time he's developed a strong relationship with tenkara masters in Japan, particularly Dr. Hisao Ishigaki, the most prominent tenkara angler in Japan. He relies on their knowledge and feedback to ensure all products are of very high quality. No one in the US has come to know as much about tenkara as he does. This knowledge and relationships show in the quality of the products offered by Tenkara USA, which have acquired renown worldwide and applause from his masters in Japan. 

Launched in April, 2009, Tenkara USA is the first and only company in the US dedicated to bringing the traditional method of Japanese fly-fishing, tenkara, to those in pursuit of a simpler and more effective way to fly-fish mountain streams. 

Tenkara USA will open the doors to many outdoor enthusiasts and backpackers who like the idea of fly-fishing but have always found western fly-fishing too complex or intimidating. 

Tenkara USA is dedicated to small-stream conservation, and committed to the Planet through the 1% for the Planet intiative. Tenkara USA  will donate at least 1% of its sales to the environment.
